Thinking Like a Leader:
To transform little learners into little leaders, our culture is centered around inclusivity, empowerment, and action. Our instructional model puts students at the center and is designed to keep students engaged and give students voice and choice in what they learn, how they learn and how they demonstrate mastery of concepts.  TLS students are at the center of their own knowledge-building process.  They construct understanding of new concepts  by making connections to prior knowledge, exploring, experimenting, and making and testing conjectures.  The constructivist  learning experiences students have at TLS develop the skills needed to be leaders in the 21st century.

Becoming Agents of Change:
Students at TLS are empowered and inspired to pave their own path to success. Teaching students to advocate for themselves and for others is a key part of The Leadership School’s instructional and cultural model.  Students’ voices, feelings, and opinions matter, and they are given the space to express themselves, to feel seen and to be heard.   Success looks different for everyone; building agency allows our students to create their own opportunities and choices in life.  TLS students see themselves as change agents within the school, their communities, and the world.

At The Leadership School, we have intentionally designed every aspect of the student experience to cultivate a community of belonging. Students’ voices, feelings, and opinions matter. Our students thrive when they are learning in a socially and emotionally safe environment.  Building an inclusive and supportive culture allows students to develop a positive self-identity and to feel like an important member of the TLS community.
